Theo thống kê của tác giả David T.Zabecki trong cuốn Encylopedia of the Vietnam war . tại Huế số thi hài nạn nhân tìm được trong mồ chôn tập thể là 2810 người

Mặc dù đã trốn dưới mương, số phận nghiệt ngã đã không buông tha gia đình xấu số người miền Nam này. Gia đình người mẹ tương lai trẻ này đang chờ đợi 1 hài nhi ra đời thì đã bị bộ đội cộng sản Bắc Việt tàn sát cùng với cả làng của mình ở Thừa Thiên Huế. Ghi chú: Dù không thấy dây trói ở cận cảnh của cô gái nhưng dấu vết bị trói rất rõ ràng ở phần dưới của tấm hình, và bụng của cô ta đã bị rạch lòi ruột.

Though hidden in a ditch, escape was denied this South Vietnamese family. With her offering around, an unidentified mother awaited the end. The incident occurred when NVA soldiers massacred civilians in a village in Huong Tra district, Thua Thien province. Note: Position of girl in foreground though no cords were found, marks on hands at bottom of photo, and slashed stomach.

The Marines stormed in to enemy held houses, throwing canisters of tear gas and non poisonous nausea gas, but enemy forces donned gas masks and held onto most of the city.
